About

Hi! I’m Sr. Mariana…
I’m a midwife, a nurse, and someone who believes that a little preparation and a kind hand can make all the difference.
With a BCur degree in Nursing from the University of Pretoria and an Honours in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatology from UNISA, I’ve spent years supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and those tender early days of motherhood. My background spans high-risk public units, private hospital care, and now primarily clinic-based newborn and breastfeeding support.
Alongside Sarah Swart, a women’s health physiotherapist and lactation consultant, we offer in-person antenatal classes right here in Swakopmund.
These sessions are grounded in real-world experience and a shared belief: When you understand what to expect, you can meet each moment with more ease. Together, we aim to offer guidance that’s practical, evidence-based, and deeply reassuring.
We’d love to meet you.
Meet Sarah…
Hi, I’m Sarah — a physiotherapist, qualifying lactation consultant, and mom of two. Originally from Cape Town, I’ve called Swakopmund, Namibia home since 2017. My path to women’s health began with my own motherhood journey, especially after struggling with breastfeeding the first time around. After an emergency C-Section and a baby struggling to latch and not gaining enough weight, to my second baby born via VBAC and gaining weight well, I have experienced the two ends of the spectrum. That experience sparked a passion to help other moms feel empowered, understood, and well cared for.
I hold a BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of the Western Cape and have been practicing since 2015. My special interest in women’s health has led me to complete further training in a range of areas to better support the women I work with. I’ve completed multiple Women’s Health courses, am certified in Pilates through APPI, and qualified as a Yoga Teacher through the Yoga Alliance. I’m also a qualifying South African Certified Lactation Consultant, busy completing a comprehensive year-long program, and have trained in birth preparation through the Birth Balance Method.
I bring both clinical knowledge and lived experience into every session—because I know how important it is to feel heard, held, and healed during this life-changing time.
When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me outside with my family, soaking up nature, or getting lost in a good book.
